This
course will provide a general introduction to psychiatry before
going on to focus on specific major psychiatric disorders.
The presentation, aetiology, epidemiology, investigations and treatments
of patients with bipolar disorder, depression, schizophrenia and
anxiety disorders will be described and explained. Pharmacological
and non-pharmacological treatments will be reviewed and the issues
associated with clinical trials will be discussed. Delegates will
hear about the reality of living with bipolar disorder from a person
who lives with this condition.
Video presentations, case studies and practical sessions with rating
scales will be inherent throughout this two-day course.
