This
course reviews the haematological system and provides an overview
on the spectrum of haematological cancers.
The pathophysiology of haematological malignancies such as leukaemias,
lymphomas and myeloma are discussed along with their common treatments
such as high dose chemotherapy and total body irradiation. The issues
and complications of bone marrow and stem cell transplant will be
reviewed. Matters relating to clinical trial issues including ethical
considerations and NICE directives will be examined. Additional
therapeutic options such as immunotherapy and vaccines will also
be considered.
Case studies, quizzes and open discussion will form an integral
part of the programme.
