This two-day course will provide delegates with
an understanding of Parkinson’s Disease and the rapidly evolving
developments in the understanding and treatment of this disease.
Key concepts concerning the aetiology and the underlying pathology
of Parkinson's Disease will be explained and the spectrum of clinical
presentations reviewed. Investigative methods, focusing on imaging,
will be addressed along with the differential diagnosis. The values
and limitations of these techniques in both clinical practice and
research will be evaluated.
Current pharmacological management as well as surgical options will
be discussed with specific attention placed on future directions
and important innovations in the field.
The challenges of clinical trial design for Parkinson's Disease
therapies will be explored with a focus on patient selection, evaluative
methods and key rating scales used in clinical research.
Additionally, delegates will benefit from hearing the experiences
of a patient living with Parkinson's Disease. Discussion time and
group work will provide opportunities throughout the course for
questions and debate.
