E-learning

A client initially wanted to develop a multi-layered e-learning program to educate internal staff globally, on disease, role and product specific subjects, related to oncology. Healthcare Education Services produced a cost-effective interactive learning management system (LMS), to meet their needs.

The objectives for the client

  • Educate internal staff of varying backgrounds and experience in the field of oncology, globally.

  • Reach and educate a large audience in a cost-effective manner.

  • Provide a searchable LMS to house all learning modules produced.

  • Develop learning modules in all areas of oncology, i.e. disease, role and product specific.

The programme of work

Healthcare Education Services began with the development of an interface design for all the modules and for the learning management system shell, which included suggesting an interactive design for all aspects of the program.

Following the initial development of the LMS, Healthcare Education Services developed add-on modules, covering several areas of oncology therapy.

The deliverables to the client

  • An LMS, which is now managed by the client—this includes several features, such as a training track (a system by which users can search the database according to their experience), which enables users of varying backgrounds to search for learning materials appropriate to their experience.

  • A series of eight disease-specific, and four role-specific modules were developed.

  • A series of audio PowerPoint presentations and an online clinical experience programme were developed by Healthcare Education Services for inclusion.

The project achievements

  • By use of a wide-range of media, such as text, audio, video and animations, all learning styles were catered for—the use of supporting text also helped users for whom English is not their first language.

  • The LM has been populated with all internal materials produced by Healthcare Education Services and the client company, resulting in a comprehensive educational tool.

Added value

The client was provided with content and an easily managed, robust LMS. Now they are able to update the content, to accommodate changing priorities within the oncology market.
