An international pharmaceutical company required a comprehensive medical communications solution for its statin product.

The objectives for the client

  • Maintain presence in a busy marketplace, particularly at the major European Society of Cardiology (ESC) Congress.

  • Showcase an on-going clinical trial and create anticipation for the trial results.

The programme of work

Healthcare Education Services worked closely with the client to provide tactical solutions for the their specific marketplace needs. With experience of the client, Healthcare Education Services was able to ‘dovetail’ its services to provide much needed additional support.


The deliverables to the client

  • Medical writing of two original papers for peer review and publication.

  • Satellite symposium input, including:

    • strategy and planning

    • congress organiser liaison

    • faculty selection and recruitment

    • on-site production and implementation of symposium.

  • Two advisory boards, which included:

    • strategy, planning and implementation

    • faculty selection and recruitment

    • moderating main and breakout sessions

    • logistical management of faculty, meeting room and audio-visual requirements

    • on-site medical writer to provide meeting report.

  • Medical writing, and preparation for submission and publication, of a post-event supplement.

The project achievements

  • Increased 'noise' by publication of a paper before the congress.

  • At the satellite symposium the 500 capacity room was full and 85% of delegates rated the content as good or excellent.

  • The advisory boards ran smoothly and to schedule, with good attendance and interactivity as well as positive delegate feedback.

  • Supplement published in Atherosclerosis Journal within 4 months of the symposium.

  • The new trial results are eagerly awaited—and were even asked about during the symposium question and answer session.
