Interactive teleconference

A pharmaceutical company wished to try something different to reach a geographically diverse audience of UK Practice Nurses, in the format of a series of regional teleconferences.

The objectives for the client

  • Provide nurses with an interactive and enjoyable forum for discussion and education.

  • Generate the opportunity for sales representatives to build professional relations with their key customers.

  • Reduce travel time (minimising ‘off-road’ time for the sales representatives and time away from the surgery for the nurses).

  • Provide quantitative and qualitative information on the success of the event.

The programme of work

Healthcare Education Services advised the client on a cost-effective method to reach the audience whilst
maintaining interactivity.

The deliverables to the client

  • A series of four regional teleconferences, simultaneously transmitted to up to 12 regions at a time.

  • Each teleconference programme included:

    • two live opinion leader delivered presentations

    • interactive 15-minute question and answer session

    • summary from the local sales representative at each site.

    • Invitations, delegate workbooks and PowerPoint slides.

  • Educational learning objectives were successfully implemented by Healthcare Education Services and fully accredited by the Royal College of Nursing.

  • Over 500 nurses attended and reported that the meeting format helped to enhance the learning experience and they particularly enjoyed the lively and interactive Q&A sessions.

  • 90% of the nurses agreed that attending the teleconference had given them further confidence in practising Travel Medicine reinforcing the client’s brand proposition.

Added value

Healthcare Education Services was presented with two awards by the Incentive Travel and Meetings Association(ITMA) at a ceremony in London.

  • A silver award in the ‘Healthcare & Wellbeing’ category.

  • Silver in the ‘Best Value Solution’, highlighting Healthcare Education Services’ ability to develop innovative cost-effective solutions.

ITMA’s aim is ‘to tease out the good from the indifferent, then single out the excellent and reward it’.
